The Social & Informal Learning Space (SILS) project transformed a fragmented area into a flexible, multi-functional environment designed for collaboration and learning. Partition walls were removed to create an open, adaptable space incorporating a catering facility, information point, staff offices, and diverse work areas. Custom furniture, lighting, and integrated power and network access enhanced usability, allowing the space to evolve with user needs. The scalable design informed future architectural strategies, while research-driven documentation ensured alignment with educational objectives.
"The SILS project has demonstrated that empowering staff at a relatively junior level can bring significant and demonstrable benefits, instrumental in the inception, development, and implementation of this project."
